pizza-pizzaWell, hello there. Great to meet you over the Interwebs. I’m Jean, a Los Angeles native and freelance food, lifestyle and travel writer. My work has appeared in VICEThrillistKCET-TVGOODLos Angeles MagazineLA WeeklyComplex/First We Feast, MyDomaine, SoCalPulse/WHERE Los AngelesLAist and The Daily Beast. I recently won second place in travel reporting for LA Press Club’s SoCal Journalism Awards in 2018.

In addition to writing, I’m a photographer. I also have recorded and produced a radio segment for KCRW Good Food, as well as recorded, edited, and produced a video segment for Tastemade. Previously, I was the Deputy Editor of LAist and have made radio appearances as a guest on KPCC and KCRW Good Food, but my biggest claim to fame is that I was a judge for a bacon festival competition. I love writing about LA culture, the food and drink scene, off-the-beaten-path adventures, travel, and the histories of different cities. And basically, I want to be Huell Howser, who’s my spirit animal.

I’ve also had six years of public relations and social media experience working with a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies and celebrities.

In my free time, you can find me cooking, hiking, doing yoga, playing video games, binging Netflix, fawning over puppies and searching for the perfect bowl of ramen. I also really like pizza, especially pies that are at least 36″ in diameter.
